As a parent it can be so tiring one minute and the best part of your day the next. It can also be very trying at times and so easy to loose your temper. I'm currently dealing with a VERY independent and stubborn 2 year old who enjoys a nice round of tantrums. There isn't just one easy fix to tantrums and what works once might never work again, but the one thing that is important is your ability to stay calm during the struggle. My 2 year old presses my buttons at times and I have to keep reminding myself, about how I feel when things aren't going the way I planned or when I order a double quarter pounder and only get a single patty. As adults when we get angry we might swear, or we might yell but most of us bottle up our feelings, grunt and take it out on someone else later on. For children though they haven't mastered their emotions yet and are often very overwhelmed resulting in the world falling down around them. Whenever we are feeling overwhelmed and someone yells at us, it usually results in us yelling back. So in that time of need when your child is screaming, and you just want to yell back turn around, walk away and do some deep breathing, because in the long run, it will benefit your mental health and your child's overall health and wellbeing...Or just lay down next to them and cry over the green cup too!
